Where Do You Wear Your Black Dress?

How do you wear your Little Black Dress? And where do you wear it?. Do you keep it hanging in your closet just for those evening do’s or do you wear it whatever the occasion? The LBD  has always been associated with the fact it is a cocktail dress, evening dress, cut simply and often quite short.

But now in recent times, this little number has been worn more and more in the day and to daily functions, not longer banished to the evenings but brought out and shown out. Little black dresses are a fashion classic, an old faithful that will run and run and more than  any whether item of clothing in your wardrobe it is  the most essential, the one that will take you practically anywhere.

Coco Chanel, the ultimate LBD designer, was the one who made it ubiquitous. She did not invent the concept, of course, and in  1926, American Vogue published a drawing of a Chanel design, it was an apparently simple yet elegant sheath, in black crêpe de Chine, with long, narrow sleeves, worn with a string of white pearls; and Vogue proved to be correct in the prediction that it would become a uniform and ultimately called ‘The Little Black Dress’.

The LBD should be a simple as possible, and dressed up or down as require, with simple pearls, or an exquisite clutch and classic shoes. Just remember, that little black dresses, no matter how smart or glamorous, need not be banished for night time only. If you got it,  flaunt it.
