Gianfranco Ferré’s Shape of Spring SS’14

Ferré’s Shape of Spring – Gianfranco Ferré  SS14, a beautiful and flowing collection, with feminine draped dresses, that was dominated by the belt. Twisted, turned and on virtually every piece, the collection was amass  of sculptural aesthetic into a futuristic effect and architectural shapes that were out in full force for the new season in subtle shades of ivory, beige and blue.

Federico Piaggi and Stefano Citron, now in their fifth season at Gianfranco Ferré, based this SS14 collection on Herb Ritts’ photographs of classic Ferré looks and indelible images of Gia Carangi, the tragic supermodel of the late seventies and early eighties. Gia, the stories go, was deliriously sexy, and as befits their muse. Origami folds, asymmetric layers, wide obi belts added to the severity of some of the shapes.

Sculpted shoulders, draped fabrics and soft folds dominate the looks, blouses, and jackets, skirts also flashed skin, and pieces that glistened, which lent the collection a glitz that didn’t let up. A balance between powerful and feminine, which in turn did have a sultry edge. Gianfranco Ferré now available at Shop at Voi
